EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

This program is intended for persons with disabilities who require support in preparing for, finding, and maintaining employment.  Job preparation includes skill assessment, resume development, interview skills training and job leads.  Additionally, an important service is making “HIV in the Workplace” presentations to businesses.

           BEYOND BARS (Prison Reintegration)

Oklahoma leads the nation in the rate of female incarceration and is fourth among male incarcerations.  Oklahoma county is the largest county in Oklahoma and has at least an estimated 1,000 newly released/formally incarcerated inmates within it’s boundaries at any one time.  This program focuses on reentry services for newly released and/or formally incarcerated individuals. The program is designed to foster a smooth transition back into the community by offering job preparation skills, interview techniques and resume development.  Additionally, the program will provide case management for those living with HIV/AIDS.

YOUTH IN ACTION

Youth In Action focuses on the importance of preventing youth from engaging in the use of alcohol, tobacco and other harmful illicit drugs.  It also teaches and encourages youth to work together and appreciate others from different cultures and backgrounds.  Our purpose is to build character, self-esteem and positive life skills so youth are empowered with knowledge to encourage them to make the right choices.

IT’S A FAMILY AFFAIR

This program focuses on awareness and prevention that allow individuals and families to accept ownership of their health conditions and affairs.  By increasing health literacy (e.g., benefits of smoking cessation and exercise), people can actively change behaviors that improve health.

Goal:  To educate and facilitate in acquisition of basic skills for the prevention and cessation of three major health issues in Oklahoma - obesity, tobacco cessation, and family planning.  This project will disseminate information on the risk these important issues.  In addition, the project will provide life skill education on the prevention and cessation of obesity and tobacco use.
